HKS TYPE-S Front Bumper Canards - 2022-2024 Subaru BRZ
TYPE-S Front Bumper Canards for the 2022-2024 Subaru BRZ
The HKS TYPE-S Front Bumper Canards for the 2022-2024 Subaru BRZ are the BRZ-specific canard elements from HKS's TYPE-S aero family. They mount to the front bumper corners and manage airflow around the front wheels, reducing front axle lift at speed and energizing the boundary layer along the car's flanks. The BRZ-specific geometry ensures correct fitment and aerodynamic function on the BRZ's front bumper mounting architecture.

120mm Vane, 15-Degree Attack, 2-3 kg per Canard
The BRZ AF002 canards use the same vane geometry as the GR86 AT022, 120mm length, 15° attack angle, but with mounting tabs remachined for the BRZ front bumper corner geometry, which has a different radius and mounting boss position than the GR86. The aerodynamic contribution per canard is equivalent to the GR86 version at approximately 2–3 kg each at 200 km/h. The vane profile was optimized in the same wind tunnel session as the BRZ AF003 complete kit.
BRZ-Specific Mounting Geometry vs GR86 Canards
The canards work most effectively when combined with the TYPE-S front lip. Together they manage the complete front bumper aerodynamic area. The lip addresses underbody airflow entry; the canards address the corner flow around the front wheels. HKS designed these as complementary pieces in the TYPE-S system.
Pair with AF001 Front Lip for Full Corner Aerodynamics
Ships unpainted. Polypropylene construction. All mounting hardware included. Attaches to the BRZ front bumper corner mounting positions without requiring modification to the bumper surface.
The FT Breakdown
BRZ owners should confirm the AF002 (BRZ-specific canards) rather than the AT022 (GR86 canards). The mounting geometry differs between the two platforms. The AF002 is the correct part for the BRZ application. The identical vane geometry between the BRZ AF002 and the GR86 AT022 canards — same 120mm length, same 15-degree attack angle — reflects HKS's wind tunnel finding that the vortex generation requirement at the front corner is the same regardless of which platform you are on. The only change is the mounting tab geometry for the different bumper connection point. Same aero, correct fit.
