HKS Super SQV4 Black Edition - Universal
SSQV4 Black Edition Blow Off Valve. Universal
The HKS Super SQV4 Black Edition is the universal version of HKS's flagship blow off valve, finished in a black anodized housing rather than the standard silver. The SSQV4 mechanism is the same. The Black Edition is a cosmetic variant designed for builds where the engine bay appearance matters and the black finish works better visually than the standard silver. Vehicle-specific adapter kits are required for installation on most applications.

38mm Bore, Type III Hard Anodize, 3.0 Bar Rated
The SSQV4 valve body is 63mm (2.5 inch) outer diameter, 38mm valve bore, machined 6061 aluminum with Type III hard anodizing for corrosion resistance. The black anodized finish is the same hardcoat process as the silver version, it is not paint or powder coat. Operating temperature range is -30°C to +120°C. The sequential piston design uses a dual-stage spring stack rated for consistent actuation from 0.3 bar to 3.0 bar gauge differential pressure.
Same Mechanism as the Silver Version
The SSQV4 sequential mechanism produces the signature HKS two-stage blow off sound: a sharp initial crack as the valve opens, followed by a sustained whoosh as the pressure releases. This is a mechanical characteristic of the sequential design rather than a styled sound. The valve opens in stages as the pressure differential increases, which produces that distinctive profile naturally.
Vehicle-Specific Adapter Kit Required
Being universal, the Black Edition requires a vehicle-specific installation kit. For Toyota Supra and other specific applications, HKS offers application-specific kits that include the adapters needed to mount the SSQV4 correctly. Order the appropriate kit for your vehicle alongside this BOV.
The FT Breakdown
The SSQV4 Black Edition is for builders who want the HKS BOV in a finish that works with a black-themed engine bay. The valve performance is identical to the standard silver version. The Black Edition is purely a cosmetic variant. Both are the same engineering, the same sequential mechanism, the same sound. The Type III hard anodize process used on the black finish is functionally identical to the silver version's anodizing — same depth, same hardness rating, same heat tolerance. The color difference is purely cosmetic and carries no performance implication. If the silver works in your engine bay, use the silver; if the black works better visually, the engineering is identical.
