Carbon Tube Construction and 15% Stiffness Improvement

The front brace set uses 3K twill weave carbon fiber tube construction with CNC-machined aluminum end fittings. HKS publishes a chassis rigidity improvement of approximately 15% in front-end torsional stiffness with the front brace set installed, measured on the A90 chassis with and without the brace using a jig fixture test rig. Total weight of the front brace set is approximately 1.2 kg, roughly 60% lighter than an equivalent steel brace providing the same stiffness improvement.

Why Chassis Stiffness Matters for Suspension Performance

The A90 Supra is a relatively stiff chassis compared to its predecessors, but HKS's motorsport testing identified specific front-end flex points that affect handling at the limit. The carbon brace set addresses these points directly, and the improvement is most noticeable in high-load cornering where the suspension needs consistent geometry to do its job. For builds running HKS coilovers, the brace set allows the suspension geometry to perform as intended.

Bolt-On at Factory Mounting Points, No Drilling

Installation is bolt-on using existing chassis mounting points. No drilling or modification to the factory chassis is required. The carbon fiber construction keeps the added weight minimal. The functional improvement comes without the mass penalty of traditional steel brace systems.

The FT Breakdown

Chassis bracing pairs naturally with coilover installation. If you are putting HIPERMAX S or Hipermax R coilovers on the Supra, the carbon brace set should be part of that conversation. A well-braced chassis lets the suspension do its job correctly, and HKS designed these as a system. A 15% front chassis stiffness improvement at 1.2 kg added weight is an exceptionally favorable stiffness-to-weight ratio — equivalent steel bracing would add 3 kg or more for the same stiffness gain.
